To The Heart 03:59
Boy I wouldn’t ever do that, Lord wouldn’t even try Standing in the way dear, with that blood soaked eye And you held that crooked tooth Scrapin’ long the ground with that screech What would the neighbors think dear, if they saw you? What would the neighbors say dear, in the night? Well should we all just make believe okay dear? Well should we all just make believe all’s right? We’ll noose the hardships and decay We’ll disregard the only way And say Yes I can make this! Yes I can do this! Yes I can love this! Yes I can make this all right! But I’ll have to give, to the heart, to the love, to receive All the change I wish, for the world, which needs to be Separate from that greed Of the gods, of the kings, and their queen So we may awake, to a soul, which lives And breathes Yes I can make this! Yes I can do this! Yes I can love this! Yes I can make this all right! But as I hit the ground dear, You turn to walk away And as I scream for hands dear, You turn to slowly say You turn to slowly say The truth is that we only cope, We disregard to maintain hope And so the world is ending, lets say goodbye my friend Perhaps it can be mended, before we reach the end Lets hope we’ve done our part to stay Lets disregard the only way And say Yes I can make this! Yes I can do this! Yes I can love this! Yes I can make this all right! But I’ll have to give, to the heart, to the love, to receive All the change I wish, for the world, which needs to be He wasn’t very old, I’m told! Hard not to notice the fingers move Hard not to believe in the muscles you choose But carving the face up just to make you smile And tearing the limbs off just to take more for a little while Just lay me down with the wind and the rain Separate from that greed Of the gods, of the kings, and their queen So we may awake, to a soul, which lives And breathes Yes I can make this! Yes I can do this! Yes I can love this! Yes I can make this all right!

The Good 05:25
Hard not to notice the way the fingers move Hard not to believe in the muscles you choose But carving the face up just to make you smile And tearing the limbs off just to take more for alittle while Ain’t the way, you know, to save a friend But when that day come, when I will meet my end Just lay me down, with the wind and the rain So the world will never know, just why I came & how I’d go But the soul can stay to resonate the good 99 more years to go, 120 years I’m told I’ll be ‘til they believe in me to be, safe for you & safe for me 99 more years to go, 120 years I’m told I’ll be ‘til they believe in me to be, safe for you & safe for me Remember when we killed the other man? What was his name again my friend? Bet he had a family! Well, just a few kids I’m told! Remember when we took the other one? Shot him down just to have a little fun! Bet he had a family! Well, he wasn’t very old, I’m told! Bet he had a family! Well, just a few kids I’m told! Bet he had a family! Well, he wasn’t very old I’m told! Bet he had a family! Bet he had a family! Bet he had a family! Well, just a few kids I’m told! Bet he had a family! Bet he had a family! Bet he had a family! Well, he wasn’t very old I’m told! So I’m told, so I’m told, so I’m told, so I’m told, so I’m told, he wasn’t very old, I’m told

We’ll start with the knife and cut down to your toes The blade’s a bit dull but we’ll push hard and see how it goes It’s just the pain that’s got you down It’s just the way these holes In my heart, tend to bleed For that sweet serenade And the golden dreams of faded days Well I remember, early mornings When you would wake up Crying just to share our love And we would go out Into the garden Just starin’ at the dirt In between our toes But the glass, still cuts even when I’m cold And we’ll both wash away in the oceans of old And the ghosts will come to scratch at the night So I kick and scream I pry and pull Chiseling out my human frame ‘till I finally come to know I must breathe and breathe till the whites of my eyes break the shadows of the veins to clearly live this life So, let them come Leave them be Let them do What they may I only wish I had something more I could have gave We’ll start with the knife and we’ll cut down to your toes

Well I could sing you the gospel If you please, if you please Yes I could sing you the gospel If you please, if you please But somehow the lady made me love you More than I could, more than I could Yes somehow the lady made me love you More than I could, more than I could But I could sing you the gospel If you please, if you please Well it read just like a caption Like a head misunderstood Well it gave such satisfaction Like a heart only could, sayin’ I’m gonna borrow only the bits that I want dear And I’m gonna take all the good that I can by the end Yes I’m gonna borrow only the bits that I want dear And I’m gonna take all the good that I can by the end Well Frankenstein had a lover Her name was Gildred-Sue Well she had three toes and a freckle And a great big lover’s caboose She says, “I’m gonna love you, If it’s the last thing that I do! Yes I’m gonna love you, If it’s the last thing that I do!” But I’m gonna borrow only the bits that I want dear And I’m gonna take all the good that I can by the end Yes I’m gonna borrow only the bits that I want dear And I’m gonna take all the good that I can by the end Well I could sing you the gospel If you please, if you please Yes I could sing you the gospel If you please, if you please

I’d like to grow a garden in the Sun But this world is making me crazier everyday I’d like to share a dance with the moonlight But they told me not to dream away the day And hey there Gerald do you remember when we were kids How we dug that hole into the earth Well that’s where we was told China hid Alls we had was sticks and hands to break our backs I wish I may, I wish I might Find my peace in the cold dark night But the city lights surrounding me Create a fear instilled within deeply I left my home far behind Back with the dust where I once laid But now the urge is to roll in the mud For to resurrect the spirit I once held As a loose tooth, dirty britches little kid Now I sit and wait for the closing light Which is falling all around me And I thank the world for a second night To right my wrongs for which I see And hey there Gerald Do you remember when we were kids How we dug that hole into the earth Well that’s where we was told China hid Alls we had was sticks and hands to break our backs And we was loose tooth, dirty britches little kids

about

Although conventional tools (Keys, Banjo, Bass, Drums, & Voice) may be the form of expression on the newly released E.P. 'We Were Kids', The Ames continue in their exploration of originality; both in musical and lyrical communication. The beauty of the album lies in the simplicity of what the band does best; play the instruments as they were made - no tricks or gadgets - simple hands and minds to create a music unique to itself. Thus, 'We Were Kids' remains constant to the changing path the band strives for from beat to beat, song to song, and now, album to album.
